ABC Paint & Deco

$200K sold and $700K quoted, two months in

A painting business with a strong reputation and almost no search presence. Two months in, form enquiries are up 131%, roughly $200,000 of work has been won from them and a further $700,000 sits in quoted pipeline. The growth is coming from pages that did not exist in June.

Method. Form enquiries are the website’s own enquiry form records exported on 10 September 2026, with three obvious spam entries removed, compared across 16 July to 12 August and 13 August to 9 September 2026, equal 28 day windows. Calls are from the call tracking export for the same date, covering tracked numbers live since 5 August 2026. Traffic is the Google Analytics 4 property, pulled on 10 September 2026. Analytics was installed on 16 July 2026, so this is the entire comparable history. Sales and pipeline figures are reported by ABC Paint & Deco as at 10 September 2026 and are approximate. Ad spend and cost per lead are the client’s commercial data and are not published.

Modern home repaint by ABC Paint & Deco in Cottesloe

Overview

ABC Paint & Deco is a licensed Perth painting and decorating contractor working across residential, commercial and industrial projects, from single feature walls to national retail fitouts.

Dulux Accredited, a Master Painters and Decorators Association member, painting contractor registration PC 101034, and a written guarantee on every job. Their portfolio runs from prestige homes in City Beach, Dalkeith and Cottesloe through to Tiffany & Co and Ralph Lauren at DFO Perth Airport.

ABC had the work, the crews and the reviews. What it did not have was a website that Google took seriously. Most enquiries came from referrals and repeat clients, and the site ranked for almost nothing outside the business name.

PWD was engaged in June 2026 to change that, with a brief to build enquiries from search rather than buy every one of them.

Challenge

Perth painting is a crowded market. The established players hold the head terms, and the big directories sit above everyone. A new entrant cannot outspend them on the same ten keywords.

When PWD took on ABC Paint & Deco, four things were holding the website back:

  • Invisible outside the brand name: the site ranked for a handful of terms, and someone searching for a painter in their own suburb had no reason to find it.
  • No content for the questions asked first: nothing answering what homeowners search weeks before they ever type “painters near me”.
  • Conflicting technical signals: the site was telling search engines two different stories about itself, so it did not present reliably in results.
  • No measurement: no analytics, no call tracking, and no way to say which enquiry came from where.

A strong reputation was not reaching the people looking for it.

What we did

Location pages that earn their place

141 suburb pages, each written around what somebody in that suburb actually wants to know about repainting their home, not a template with the suburb name swapped in. They now convert organic visitors at around four times the site average.

Content for the questions asked first

Guides on paint choices, costs, peeling ceilings and colour comparisons. These pages carry most of the new organic traffic and put ABC in front of homeowners weeks before they are ready to get quotes.

Technical signals and measurement fixed

We corrected the structured data and site signals that were working against the site, and set up tracking so every form and every tap to call is recorded and attributed. You cannot improve what you are not counting.

Digital PR built on original research

A published industry report, Best Painters in Perth 2026, with consistent, checkable criteria, candid about where ABC is beaten. It earned coverage, links and a page one position for “best painters Perth”.

Google Ads on the same structure

Paid search runs alongside on the same keyword structure, so paid and organic reinforce each other rather than compete.

AccuRanker, 178 tracked keywords

Sixty keywords moved onto page one in eight weeks. The two that matter most, “perth painters” and “painters in perth”, now sit at number one. One of them was not in the top 100 in July. Keywords outside the top 100 fell from 141 to 86.

Most of the new positions are suburb terms: Subiaco, Dalkeith, City Beach, Wembley, Claremont and Mosman Park all rank first or second. Each is small on its own. Together they are the reason the location pages convert so well: the visitor has already told Google where they live.

Source: AccuRanker export for abcpaintdeco.com.au, 10 September 2026, Google desktop, Perth WA. Initial ranks recorded 17 July 2026 for 169 of the 178 keywords, the remainder in May 2025.

Where it stands today

Two months is early for search. This is the honest position as at 10 September 2026:

  • Form enquiries running at 4.4 a day in September, from 0.8 a day in the second half of July, plus 66 tracked calls since 5 August, 49 of them first time callers.
  • Roughly $200,000 of work won from website enquiries, with a further $700,000 in open quotes.
  • Organic search is the largest source of enquiries after paid search, and the fastest growing.
  • Number one for “perth painters”, “painters in perth” and “best painters perth”, and first or second in a dozen western suburbs.
  • Google Ads runs alongside on the same keyword structure, so paid and organic reinforce each other rather than compete.

What has not happened yet

The suburb pages convert best but still take under a tenth of organic entries. Getting them ranking is the largest remaining upside.

Paid social drove a lot of traffic in August and very few enquiries. The creative and targeting are being reworked before more budget goes in.

AI search visibility is small: 17 visits from AI assistants in the latest 28 days. It converts well but it is an open front, not a result.

The other head terms are still out of reach. “Painters perth”, “house painters perth” and “interior painting perth”, each around 1,000 searches a month, are not yet in the top 100.

Cost per enquiry on Google Ads rose as budget scaled into September and is being worked back down.

We would rather show you a two month position honestly than quote a number that has not been earned yet.

What’s next

  • Distribution for the suburb pages: the best converting pages on the site carry the smallest share of traffic. Closing that gap is the priority.
  • The remaining head terms: “painters perth”, “house painters perth” and “interior painting perth” are the next targets.
  • Authority: continued digital PR built on research, because the constraint is now how few other sites reference ABC.
  • Paid social, rebuilt: new creative and targeting before budget goes back in.
  • AI search visibility: be the source that gets quoted when someone asks an assistant who to call.
