Net online sales by year: $536K in 2022 (part year from launch), $1.03M in 2023, $1.11M in 2024, $1.20M in 2025, and $709K to 25 September 2026.

Method. Orders and net sales are from the WooCommerce Analytics revenue report on the Games World website, pulled on 25 September 2026. They cover online orders only. Sales made in the 25 stores are not included. Net sales are after refunds and discounts and exclude GST and shipping. The new site launched in mid 2022, so 2022 is a part year, and year on year comparisons use 2023 to 2025, the full calendar years. Games World has run no paid advertising in that period.

Overview

Games World is an Australian owned specialty games and hobby retailer, with 25 stores across Perth and Melbourne.

There are 12 stores in Western Australia, from Joondalup to Mandurah, and 13 in Victoria, including Chadstone, Highpoint and Fountain Gate. The range covers jigsaw puzzles, board games, card and trading card games, diecast models, hobby kits and brain teasers. Schools, libraries and government departments buy on account.

PWD was engaged to design and build a new online store, which launched in mid 2022. The engagement was the build. Games World has not run paid advertising since, so every online sale in the numbers above came from customers finding the site or coming back to it.

Challenge

A retailer with 25 stores and more than 10,000 products has a different problem from most online shops. The new site had to:

  • Carry the whole range: more than 10,000 products, including over 3,000 jigsaws, without customers getting lost on the way to the one they want.
  • Earn its own traffic: Games World does not advertise, so the store has to be found through search and brought back through repeat customers.
  • Work alongside the stores: plenty of shoppers check the range online and then visit in person, so finding the nearest store matters as much as the checkout.

A catalogue this size only sells online if people can find their way through it.

What we did

A custom WooCommerce store

A WordPress and WooCommerce build on a custom PWD theme, designed around the Games World brand and built to carry a catalogue of more than 10,000 products.

Navigation for a very large range

Mega menu navigation across every department and its sub-categories, with instant product search, so a customer can get from the homepage to a specific puzzle or diecast model in a couple of clicks.

Category pages that filter

Sub-category filters, sorting and grid or list views on every department, so browsing 3,000 jigsaws is practical rather than an endless scroll.

Built for how people actually buy

A store locator covering all 25 locations, pre-orders for new releases, table rate shipping, and Afterpay, Zip and PayPal at checkout.

Where it stands today

The position as at 25 September 2026:

  • 50,881 online orders and $4.58M in net sales since the site launched in mid 2022.
  • Orders up 39% from 2023 to 2025, from 10,459 to 14,487 a year.
  • Net sales up 17% over the same period, from $1.03M to $1.20M.
  • No paid advertising. Games World has not run search, social or shopping ads since launch.
  • More than 10,000 products online, across jigsaws, board games, card games, diecast, hobby kits and more.

What the numbers do not show

Average order value has come down, from $98 in 2023 to $84 in 2025. Growth has come from more orders rather than bigger baskets.

In-store sales are not included. These figures are the website only, so they understate what the site does for the stores. A customer who checks the range online and then buys in person does not appear here.

There is no pre-launch baseline to compare against, so this page reports growth from the first full year on the new site, not from before the build.

What’s next

  • Google Shopping: Games World is about to run its first paid campaign, putting the range in front of people searching for specific games and puzzles.
  • A clean baseline: because nothing has been paid for until now, the effect of Shopping can be measured directly against four years of organic sales.
